COQUIN MIGALE release their new single ‘Gold’ taken from the EP Feel via End Of The Trail Records on 20th April 2015.
COQUIN MIGALE formed in 2013 at Northumbria University and released their debut EP The Yellow Room as free download soon afterwards. Champions of the new wave of northern indie COQUIN MIGALE have already caught the attention of NME,Generator and Fresh On The NetTom Robinson featured ‘Gold’ on the first BBC 6 Music Introducing Mixtape of 2015, saying “currently the bestunsigned band in Newcastle. Surely it won't be long until the majors start knocking?” COQUIN MIGALE were personally asked by PEACE to be the main support act their 7th March Newcastle CLUNY gig, and after a recent London showcase it seems Tom’s prophecy has indeed been proven correct. Whether drawing comparisons to 90’s shoegaze bands or more mainstream Britpop acts of the same era the reviews have all been rather good. COQUIN MIGALE featured in NME’s Radar section on 24th Jan 2015, 'Gold’ is built on gale force guitars and math-rock rhythms twinned with singer Alex Soper's soaring vocals'. BACKSEAT MAFIA commented on ‘Gold’, ‘Sways back and forth with a mixture of RIDE like guitars.’COQUIN MIGALE support PEACE on 7th March at Newcastle CLUNY and play The Great Escape, Brighton in May. COQUIN MIGALE are Alex Soper (vocals & guitar), Matthew Wooton (guitar), Stevie Kane (bass) and Dan Rawlinson (drums). Airplay support includes Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing North East.

NME - 'Gold is built on gale force guitars and math-rock rhythms twinned with singer Alex Soper's soaring vocals.' https://soundcloud.com/1mw/sets/the-buzz-january-24

TIPPING POINT - GENERATOR - ‘Coquin Migale, who, despite having a name seemingly borrowed from a Guianese goatherd, are actually a young North-East four-piece. Armed only with a few guitars and a youthfully sweary Facebook page, they’re on a mission to single-handedly revive the so-uncool-it’salmost- cool-
again indie-rock genre. ‘Gold’ is taken from their second EP, Feel, released just a month ago, and it neatly summarises their sound.’ http://tipping-point.co.uk/2015/01/19/coquin-migale/
FRESH ON THE NET - ‘The band are now being approached by some smaller labels. Surely it won’t be long until the majors start knocking? Or they start knocking back the majors?!!! Whatever happens, it will be fun to watch.’http://freshonthenet.co.uk/2015/01/mixtape20150105/

NARC MAGAZINE - ‘New EP F E E L opens with their best song to date, the readymade gig opening G O L D. There’s the twitchy, taut guitar sound of Peace, but also sledgehammer bursts of grunge, tenser interludes, nicely ungainly lyrics and a genuinely catchy chorus of vocalist Alex Soper cooing “feels like I’ve been dreeeeaming,” which is still stuck in my head as I write this.’http://narcmagazine.com/review-coquin-migale-f-e-e-l-ep/

IT’S ALL INDIE - ‘The Newcastle quartet seem to thrive off their ability to inter-weave in and out of varying melodies. One minute they're not far off the tight, picky riffs of Foals then the next they verge a nose dive towards the depths of heavy metal. The reverb of the electric guitar is the one constant, which strikes a strong chord throughout taking minimal breaks in 'Interlude' for a bombardment of hefty drums.’ http://

BACKSEAT MAFIA - ‘It sways back and forth, with a mixture of Ride like guitars (now thankfully relevant again) at the beginning, but then launch into this almost math / prog pop/rock verse that jumps and skips over time signatures, the guitars morphing into 4AD ethereal twanging, before exploding back into the chorus.’http://www.backseatmafia.com/2014/12/18/new-music-coquin-migale-gold/
